I’ve always been fascinated by the topic of pastoral personality types.
Do some personality types last longer in ministry?
Are there some that tend to end up in larger churches?
I would be very curious to learn what the personality types are of the senior pastors of the 25 largest churches in America, for example. I’m a little odd, I know.
That’s why I was fascinated to discover this graphic below. Not sure the science of how it was put together, but it’s interesting nonetheless.
Biblically, anyway, I think we’re all clear that God can and does use every personality type. Solomon was different from David. Peter was different than Paul or John.
I’ll end with this funny little graphic I found of church leaders of the past.
So what do you think? What is your personality type? Share in the comments below.
wild, i don’t know about my mbti, i was on the border of a few categories: extroversion/introversion and thinking/feeling, and i think i’m totally sensing, but instead came out clearly on the intuition side, so i came out an ENFJ, but if you would’ve asked me, i’d label myself an ISTJ. they said to trust the test, so i’m going with ENFJ, but that makes me a charismatic leader? i don’t see it, i definitely prefer the role of a supporter/facilitator rather than leader, but we’ll see… 😉
Interesting. I’m an ENFJ as well 🙂 How many times have you taken it?
just once.
Thanks for the post Rodlie. I appreciate your insights. I love talking with people about their mbti. I am a ENTP – but I am pretty even on all of them 60/40 except for “N” which I was like in the 80’s. I’m getting ready to publish a book and launch a personal blog soon – you’ve always been an inspiration!
I think there are more I’s in lead pastor roles, but they often are automatically assumed to be E’s. Just a thought 🙂
I think you’re right. DKN up here is definitely more of an I.
