Whenever you try something different in your personal or professional life you inevitably make yourself vulnerable to criticism. So as leaders we have to ask ourselves the question: is it really worth it?
If things go well you get the credit and if things go badly guess what happens….you get the blame. So as a leader it’s a fine line to walk. I recently tried something different in a church service by having a special “guest.” In some kinds of churches this wouldn’t be any kind of big deal at all and may not seem risky, but in other churches it could be considered to be quite controversial. Immediately after the church service, then, I give my first thoughts on video concerning the cost vs. benefits of trying something different and risky…oh…and I also reveal who the guest was.
(By the way, doing video posts is something that I consider personally risky. It’s easy to be behind a keyboard. It’s much harder to be on the other side of a camera. So this is an example of me trying to grow myself and take some risks.)
And here’s a little more of the glamorous life of a pastor as I had to pick up and drive the sheep back myself from a farm nearby 😉
