The Question of Weekend Groups Or Midweek groups

I just read an interesting post on the ShareFaith blog that delineates the history of Sunday schools and challenges the readers to examine whether or not they’re working. It’s certainly a valuable read for the history and perspective that it gives.

What about you? Are you doing small groups during the week or on the weekend at church? Or a combination of both? What do you feel like is working the best?

Will You Be At The Catalyst Conference?

On October 6-8 the Catalyst Conference will be beginning in Atlanta, Georgia. Haven’t heard of it? It’s a Christian leadership conference that’s attended by some 12,000 people from across the country.

Why I Started To Blog More

As I mention in the video, some of you may have been wondering why I started blogging even more than usual. In the past I’d usually post about twice a week, but now I’m posting 3-5 times per week. I share some of the reasons why.

Below are some relevant links that I reference in the video:

1. How I Schedule My Blog Posts

2. Editorial Calendar Plugin

3. John Saddington post: Video Posts Close the Gap and Increase Authenticity

So what about you? What do you think about the video post concept? Do you think it’s helpful on occasion to do something like this and see the “real” person? Other thoughts?

The Top 141 Christian Blogs And Why You Should Pay Attention

Kent Shaffer of Church Relevance just released an updated list of the top 100 Christian blogs in the world (he added 41 as a bonus this time). I think it’s always interesting to see what kind of blogs are the most popular. Some of these people have been blogging for years and years and have been able to build up readership slowly. Some of them haven’t been blogging for that long, but because of their influence or position have been able to grow big rather quickly. And there’s a myriad of hybrids in between.

Here's a screenshot of the top 5.

Here’s why I think this list is important, though.

Memorize Scripture With Some Free Scripture Songs

In this post I wrote about how to memorize Scripture with your iPhone, and I mentioned a few apps that are out for people to do so. Well, a few days ago Ben Koch left a comment on that post with a link to dozens of different Scripture songs that he’s written. In fact, he has the entire Topical Memory System as made popular by the Navigators.

This is a pretty big deal.

To check out the list of songs that you can download click here. So thanks, Ben. Keep up the good work!

So what about you? Are you aware of any other similar resources out there that you can share with the community?

Most Popular Post of September 2010

And without further adieu, the most popular post for the month of September was….

What Is the Best Way To Find Sermon Illustrations?

We didn’t get that many comments on that one. I was a little disappointed, to be honest. :( One of the readers wanted your help people! Ok…i’ll step off my soapbox. But it’s not too late if you have any ideas or want to share your story of how you find illustrations. If you still want to jump in and share click here.

Making Commenting Better and With Luv

Just a quick update. I just added the Comment Luv plugin to Modern Ekklesia. With this plugin, whenever someone that has a blog leaves a comment, it will automatically show their last blog post beneath their comment. This is just a simple way of helping to spread the love in this community and to help get some other voices heard and on the map.

So spread the luv :)
