Archives For blogging

In this post I detailed the reasons why I moved from Dreamhost. In short, it’s because they have horrible customer service. The question is how. I consider myself to be quite technically adept, but moving from one web host to another is just a little out of my comfort zone and I would rather someone else oversee the process.

Thankfully, I had heard about a great site called Odesk.com. This is a site where you can outsource all kinds of technical projects all over the world.

Allow me to walk you through some of the steps.

If you have a blog or website or are ever thinking of starting one you need to pay attention.

Changing a host is not something you want to do very often. It’s akin to moving to a different house, and I don’t know anyone who actually likes the process of looking for cardboard boxes, beginning to pack, renting a truck, asking friends to help you move, then loading everything in a truck, and then doing the reverse once you get to your new house. Ok, perhaps it’s not quite as burdensome as physically moving to a different house, but I think you get my point.

Just so you know, I have the goal of having new posts on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. On Wednesday’s, though, I’d like to put up some kind of video feature. So I’ll have very little writing, just a video that I think you’ll find helpful along with a few comments.

Preach Better Sermons: A Free Online Conference.

It was originally billed as an online preaching seminar, which it was. But the site has since converted to Preaching Rocket. They provide coaching for pastors.

I’m a big believer that every church should have a great website. Remember, before someone visits your church, they’re first going to visit your website. I think most people believe they should have a nice site, but they think it’s too difficult or too expensive to actually do it. You’d be wrong in believing that, though.

I recently discoveredĀ a new company called Church Themer that offers really nice WordPress themes that your church can use. The great thing about using one of these themes is that they already include features that churches would like.

Here are some samples:
