Using Facebook Questions For Easy Surveys

A few weeks ago Facebook began a new feature called “Questions.” It’s a simple addition, but it makes perfect sense. With this you can create surveys, ask questions, and get recommendations from people you know. A few weeks ago I did a little test and asked the following question:

There’s been times in the past in which I’ve wanted to do different surveys in my church, but haven’t had a good tool to implement them. This takes all the guess work out of it, it’s free, and extremely easy to use. Here’s a few features that you may not know, though:
1. You can follow questions. If you want to see the results of the poll that’s being taken, you can “follow” the question to get the results. Just click the “follow” button on the corner of the question and you’re good to go.
and…
2. You can point people to the exact question. Normally, doing a survey on Facebook would be really problematic because people will only be able to see it for a few hours as new “status updates” crowd out the old ones. But there’s a way to point people to the exact question you want for as long as you want. If you’ve ever asked a question, a question “tab” will appear on the top left side under your profile photo and other tabs and will show the questions you’ve asked:

This way, you can easily link to the survey from your church website. It has quite a few different features which immediately become obvious when you start to use it, but these are two good ones that aren’t quite as obvious.
So what about you? Have you used it? How do you think you would use it?

Thanks for sharing this Pastor Ortiz. I’ve been deliberately avoiding Facebook because of the time it consumes, but this would be useful to take quick polls on our church members – many of whom are on FB, but who won’t give us their email addresses. I’ll let you know how it works when I try it out.
Yeah, please let us know how it goes!!
So I used this yesterday – not for church, but to ask a question about running, and it worked great. I created the question, then sent it to a few specific friends. I’ve received replies from those friends and also from some of their friends – who aren’t my friends (that’s also an option when you create the question – who you’d like to be able to respond to the question).
The only thing was I couldn’t figure out how to ‘follow’ the question. They seem to have removed that option – or I just can’t find it. No worries – I just click Questions on my profile and I can see it. I also got email notifications when some friends replied, but not all – which was a little weird.
Anyway – I think it’s quite cool! Thanks again for sharing.

Very cool. I’m glad it worked! I’ll have to check into the follow thing to see what’s going on….
