What Is ChurchOnline.org?
About a week ago I saw the following tweet from Craig Groeschel, the lead pastor at LifeChurch.tv:
Intrigued, I, and I’m sure many others replied and asked him if he could share more information. A few days later he shared this interesting post on his blog, giving a little more details regarding their online staff meeting. He spent most of the short post addressing why they had their meeting online (because everyone is so spread out), and sharing the results of the meeting.
One thing stood out to me, though. He mentioned that they had their online staff meeting via an online church platform called ChurchOnline.org. When you go there, of course, you get the following page:
So all of this begs the question: what is churchonline.org? Will this be a medium to broadcast your own services online? Certainly sounds like it. But who knows?
I do know this, though. Lifechurch.tv is all about making great resources available to churches for free. I use their ChurchMetrics site to keep track of attendance and giving. I regularly use YouVersion for reading the Bible while online. They’re also the makers of VideoTeaching.com, MinistryCSS.com, Open, and YouVersion Live.
So does anyone have any idea what this might be?

To me it appears that it might be a program that allows churches to use the same technology to host their own online churches. I assume it may have features like using their own videos, having a chat room, adding notes, and having a map of all the people currently viewing the video.

Elevation Church http://www.elevationexperience.com/ uses this same platform for their online experience so I assume they are making this technology available to other churches.

Seems to me like this is a major beta test for the service.

I tried to contact Life Church about the service no response yet.
Currently I am looking to get an online campus up and running for our church. The fact that this is “free” greatly interests me!
Interesting….all the big guys help each other out I guess, huh?
Appreciate some of that “detective” work. Quite interesting. Can’t wait to find out more.
