Thanks James. Seeing you and John do those gave me the inspiration. At first I wasn’t going to do it, because I didn’t have much cash (that my wife would let me spend on tech stuff), so I thought I couldn’t buy on of those screen recording programs. But I found out that on Quicktime for mac, it has this built in with the latest operating system. So I was able to do it for free!

    Hi Rodlie,

Nice vid. Can I please ask two things…

    1) Where is the setting for the ‘from’ field – my emails are currently saying from ‘Podcast Feed’.

    2) My feedburner feed gives only the content title, link and date ie you have to click the link to view the content but my notification emails are currently giving away the entire content of my new blog entry. Can I set it so the email displays the same as my feed ie only content title, link and date?

    Thank you

      Hey Julian.
      1. If it says “Podcast Feed” that must be what you’ve named it. To change it click on “Edit Feed Details” which should be right underneath of the “title” on the back end of feedburner. You can change the title there.

      2. Is there any reason you don’t give all the content away on the feed? Why would you limit it? I know you can change the email setting so that only a “snippet” goes out, like a couple of sentences. But why would you want to do that?

        Hey Rodlie,

I will come back to #1 but please tell me if you know how I can configure the notification email. There are two reasons I want do to this:

First I want people to come to the website to view the full content so I guess I see RSS as an alert re new content not as making visiting the website unnecessary.

Second, the content on the website has a particular kind of formatting but when feedburner grabs it and puts it in the email the formatting is lost and so the content as presented in feedburner’s email looks a mess.

        Thanks,

        Julian

Wish I could help with that, Julian. Not totally sure. Just to share with you, though, it always annoys me when bloggers do that….when they don’t give you everything in the email or rss you subscribed to. It makes it seem like they’re just concerned with getting more page hits or something. I’ve even unsubscribed from sites that do that. If at all possible, i would recommend you change it…the whole reason people subscribe is so they don’t have to go back.
