Interested in Blogging? Why You May Want to Use Standard Theme 2.
I just upgraded to Standard Theme 2 on Modern Ekklesia. While things may not look different at all on the outside of the blog, there’s some new functionality that has been added. And if you’re thinking of getting into blogging, here’s a few reasons why this is the perfect time to jump in.
1. Awesome support. This one is big for me. I’ve been blogging for almost two years now, but I still consider myself a newbie. Especially when it comes to blogging on a self-hosted WordPress blog, which is a little more technical. But there is a great group of guys that provide support for the Standard Theme. When I upgraded from v. 1, I experienced a little hiccup on my blog, which was due to user error. From the Support Forums, they patiently helped me figure out what was wrong. They do it very quickly and in a very professional manner.
2. Social media icons options. This will make your life much easier. For example, you can now change the size of your social media icons with a click. If you want them small, fine…if you want them larger, click, and you’re done.
3. Icon for subscribing via mail. In v. 1 it didn’t include this option out of the box. But now, if you want to have an icon for people to subscribe, there’s a place where you put in your Feedburner code and your set. It appears.
4. Analytics. There’s a spot in the backend where you drop in your Google Analytics code. If you use something else, there’s a place for that too.
5. They keep making it better. This is not a theme that was created and then left alone. They’re continually working on making it better. So you can be confident that you’ll have the ability to grow with it as new technology comes on the horizon.
All in all, they made things much easier and nicer. If you’re thinking of jumping in, this would be a great time to get v. 2 of Standard Theme.
By the way, if you will jump in, make sure to buy it through the ad on the sidebar or through the links in this post. That way, I would get a small commission for sending you their way. That would go towards helping to offset the cost involved in making this blog happen.

Do you have to upgrade to customer support in order to access the online forums and help?
Yeah, they have two different licenses. One of them($90 I think) includes everything: support, unlimited upgrades, etc. The other ($40 or so) just gets you access to the basic theme without upgrades. If you purchased the $40 one you can always upgrade to the support license ($50) and it would give you access to the free upgrades and the support.
Yeah, concerning the v. 2, it makes a lot of set up stuff a lot easier than v 1. I had to do lots of tweaking with the code with the help of the support forum to get certain things to happen. Now many of those features are included automatically with a click, which is really nice.
Thanks for the props, Rodlie. Definitely appreciate it and glad you’re digging the theme.
love it!
