i had never thought about going back to the outline after writing the manuscript, i had assumed that the manuscript was the last step in the process. thanks for helping me figure out a bit more those elusive and missing steps in my journey to developing better sermons.

Looove that final step about spending time in worship after it's all done. That's why I like to finish my sermons early. That way I can relax and worship. There have been a few times In which I've finished things so late that I've barely had time to think about the God I'm preaching about....and yes...those sermons have been the worst.

Yes sir. Putting it out there for anyone that wants to learn. It primarily helps to reinforce my own learning, so it's a great benefit.

I like that you finalize your outline after writing your manuscript and receiving feedback. I'm going to start doing that. I would imagine that enhances the internalization process significantly.

And thank you for emphasizing the importance of writing a manuscript. It seems like the trend now is to tell preachers not to write one. It is definitely crippling to preach from one, but the process of writing one, like you said, polishes the message so much. I also find that the Holy Spirit guides me the most when I'm writing out a manuscript.

Apart from finalizing my outline, I have a similar preparation process. The final step in my personal sermon prep process is to stop preparing and start worshiping. On Sabbath morning, I go through my manuscript one more time, and then I file it away. I go to church trusting that God will bless the time I spent in preparation, and I stop worrying about it. That may seem like a simple and obvious thing to do, but I have to be very intentional about this step, or anxious thoughts will prevent me from truly experiencing God's presence. And without that experience, my preaching is flat.
