The Nines: Free Leadership Conference
In the world of leadership development there are various options on how to “up” your game. You could always read some books, order some leadership dvd’s, or try to get around to some of the best conferences.
Here’s a way to get the best of both worlds. On Sept 9, 2009 (9/9/09), there will be a free national webcast from some of the top leaders in the country. They’ve selected about 40 of them, and given them each a challenge to share their top leadership lessons and principles in only 9 minutes. The conference is called “The Nines.”
You can get some more information here, or to go directly to the site and sign up you can go here. Even though most of these leaders come from religious organizations, I believe you could benefit from these principles in any organization.
I’ve signed up and highly recommend you do as well. Take a day and invest in yourself. It will pay dividends in your organization.

Yeah, some of those same ones. There are quite a few that I don't recognize, but that's why i'm also excited to get to know some new leaders. Cheers.
Rodlie Just wondering how you reconcile the use of the word “leader” with what Jesus said in Mt 23:10. The word “leader” seems like a “high place.” Yes? Jesus always took and recommended the “low place.” Yes? Jesus humbled Himself, made himself of no reputation and took on the form of a servant. Php 2:7 Jesus in Mat 23:10 told His disciples “NOT” to call themselves master/“leaders” for you have one master/"leader” the Christ. King James Version – Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ. The Interlinear Bible – Nor be called leaders, for one is your leader the Christ. Phillips Modern English – you must not let people call you leaders, you have only one leader, Christ. Today's English Version – nor should you be called leader, your one and only leader is the Messiah. The Amplified- you must not be called masters (leaders) for you have one master (leader) the Christ. Jesus told His disciples “not” to be called "leaders" and none did. Ro 1:1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ… Php 1:1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ… Col 4:12 Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ… Tit 1:1 Paul, a servant of God… Jas 1:1 James, a servant of God… 2Pe 1:1 Simon Peter, a servant… His disciples "all" called themselves "servants," none called themselves "leaders." None? None. None called themselves "servant-leader." None. If someone calls themself a "leader" or thinks they are a "leader;" Are they a "disciple of Christ?" Wondering some more. Most on the list of people at this “leadership?” event are not only considered “ leaders?” but also have the “Title” “Pastor.” Where in the Bible does it say “pastor = leader?” Have you done your own study, research, on pastors? I mean in the Bible? What does the Bible say about pastors? Makes an interesting study. Here’s some questions to ask as you check out pastors. In the Bible, How many people… have the title pastor? In the Bible, How many people are… referred to as pastor? In the Bible, How many people are… ordained as a pastor? In the Bible, How many congregations are… led by a pastor? Be blessed in your search for truth… Jesus And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. John 10:16 One Fold – One Shepherd – One Voice. If Not Now, When? Be blessed and be a blessing.
Hi A. Amos Love. Thanks for sharing and welcome to the blog! I wonder if maybe we're just getting some words mixed up here. I agree with you concerning titles. I'm not big into titles myself. Look up the post on the side called "How Should A Pastor Address Himself." I usually just introduce myself with "Hi, my name is Rodlie…I'm the pastor of the ____church" I don't correct people and tell them they have to call me anything. I'm comfortable with my name. There's a difference between the title of a pastor and the function of a pastor, though. I work full-time pastoring two congregations in the role of a pastor. I suppose there are different titles that society gives people like myself: minister, bishop, pastor, etc. I feel more comfortable with pastor. Though I do understand why many pastors introduce themselves in a church as "pastor ____". It's the same reason why a Doctor in a hospital introduces themselves as "Dr. ____". When you're in a hospital you want to know who the doctor is. Often it's the same in a church. People want to know who the pastor is. As a pastor, yes, you function as a leader. But I don't think anyone uses the title of "leader." You either are a leader or you're not. By function of my role as a pastor, I am a leader. I don't think there's anyway around that. But I think there's a difference between worldly leadership and godly servant-leadership. Jesus was a leader. The apostles were leaders. They were placed in areas of responsibility in which they were expected to lead. The early church saw them as leaders. Moses was a leader, who in Exodus 18, set up other leader at the behest of Jethro. So concerning this issue, I'm not quite sure what you're trying to argue. Paul, as he went about starting churches he would leave elders/overseers in place to lead the congregations. I think the issue is, is someone a servant leader. I think that's something that we should all aspire to–just like Jesus. I know that in all things, I want to be like Him; as gracious, as merciful, as assertive, as pioneering, as holy, as bold, as fearless. The conference referenced above is for Christian leaders. Let me know if you have more questions and comments. Cheers, -Rodlie
